Application BIMO-FSC

Laser Cutting Head BIMO-FSC
Defining Cutting Edge Quality

Until recently, fibre, disc and diode lasers have been playing a minor role in the majority of the cutting applications. The new generation of highly efficient and cost-effective fibre, disc and diode lasers will challenge the CO2 laser's predominance in the cutting market. However the different laser technology calls for a different processing head technology.

The new HIGHYAG cutting head BIMO-FSC is designed for cutting with fibre, disc and diode lasers. All special requirements of the lasers with the short wave length have been taken care of HIGHYAG's experiences of the 1 µm laser technology has been a major part in the design of this new cutting head for flat sheet cutting applications. This leading technology has already transformed the welding and brazing with YAG, diode and fibre lasers.

The quality of the optical design is one of the determining factors for the cut quality. Diffraction limited optical design in collimation and focusing modules allows the adaptation of nearly any kind of 1 µm laser. For an easy integration in dynamically moving flat sheet cutting systems and reducing the mechanical strain on the laser light cable systems, the collimation module can be fitted under 90°. This allows an easy access of the fibre and control and supply cables to the machines's cable management.

Further distinguishing features are:

  • Easily exchangeable focusing module with x, y, z adjustment for quickly and reproduceable adapting the focus diameter to the required application - optical system with virtually no laser-induced focus shift
  • Integrated cover slide monitoring system
